Giant's Cup Cafe

Sani Pass Road, Southern Drakensberg

Farm food at the foot of Sani Pass.

Breakfast, lunch and cake made with milk, cheese and fruit from our own farm. Then a cold craft beer, with the Drakensberg right in front of you.

From our farm to your plate

Everything starts with our Jersey cows.

It all began with Josie, the matriarch of our Jersey herd. We have hand-milked her family twice a day since 2002, and their rich, creamy milk becomes the butter, yoghurt, ice cream, cream cheese, feta, halloumi and gouda on your plate.

Add jam Russell makes from our orchard fruit, vegetables from the garden in summer, and free-range eggs and honey from neighbouring farms. It’s food that tastes of this valley.

Heading up the pass

Breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30, organic Fair Trade coffee and a proper meal before the climb into Lesotho. Order a packed lunch the day before and take the farm with you.

Coming back down

Swap the gravel for the garden: a craft beer or a cheese board while the light turns gold on the escarpment. Happy Hour is 17:00 to 18:00, every day.

Staying in the area

It’s a 20 km drive on tarred road from Underberg, and any car will do. Come for lunch and stay for the afternoon. There’s plenty to do.

Eat and drink

Honest food, made from scratch.

Hearty farm breakfasts, light lunches, cakes from our own dairy, a weekend high tea and a three-course dinner every night.

More than a meal

Make a day of it.

Stay for the afternoon. There’s a whole working farm to explore between courses.
